Our Audience questionnaire was vital in shaping the mise en scene that we will be using for our music video. Firstly our first participant made an exceptionally valid point by which teenage story lines are most popularly used as a lot of the music videos that come out appeal to a much younger audience. We asked our target audience of teenagers, what they would imagine young girl’s bedroom to be like. Their immediate reaction was the colour pink and therefore this confirmed the decision of using a red filter when filming the young girl’s scenes, in order to make the room appear pink. We also want the colour of the bedroom to have instant connotations of a young girl’s bedroom and therefore it was vital to ask our audience what they would imagine her room to be like.
Additionally, we asked our target audience, how they would imagine a male geek character to ensure that we avoid any stereotypes of a geek and stick to the character profile of a social recluse. Often a social recluse can be understood with the broader term of a ‘geek’ and therefore we wanted to make sure we didn’t go down this path. By asking our audience this question we will be able to make his costuming of a social recluse more subtle instead of following people’s stereotypical views and authentic. From avoiding stereotypes, it will help to appeal more to our target audience, as the boy could be anyone, not just a minority.
