A question I had to consider for my
music video is will I want any diegetic sounds in my music video or just the
song itself.
After watching Katy Perry’s video of 'The One That Got Away' I decided that i particularly liked the way in which at 3 minutes 54 seconds of the music video, the males car crashes with amplfied diegetic sounds. At this point of the video, this is the only diagetic sound that is heard throughout the video, therefore emphasising the importance of the car crashing in shaping the music video. This idea has inspired us for during editing to ensure that our music video reaches a climax at the end. We will be using the non diegetic sound of our track for the whole of the music video except at the end of our video as the doll is snapped by the young girl. We intend to have the diegetic sound of the ‘snap’ and the sound of the track at the same time. I think it is important for us to use this as it will be the only sound for our video as it concludes, destroying the image of perfection which has been prevalent throughout, emphasising the narrative of the video.
